About me

From a young age growing up in Whitley Bay, I was fascinated by the art of taxidermy. I spent hours captivated by the displays of preserved animals and birds at the Hancock Museum in Newcastle, and that early curiosity never left me.

It wasn’t until I began working for the RSPCA in Cumbria that I decided to take the plunge. Surrounded by incredible wildlife every day, I finally bought a book on taxidermy and gave it a go—much to the dismay of my supervisor! My first attempt was a buzzard, which I was incredibly proud of, even if it did look a little like an oversized chicken. I kept practicing, improved my technique, and never looked back.

Since then, I’ve been fortunate to connect with people from all over the world through my work. Many of my clients have become good friends, and I’ve had the privilege of contributing to major productions, including the Harry Potter franchise and work for ITV, Netflix, Channel 4, BBC, Warner Bros., and more.

I'm a member of The Guild of Taxidermists and previously served on its committee for several years. I’ve also been honoured with multiple awards and credits for my work. Today, I run one-to-one bird taxidermy courses, which are always in high demand and a real joy to teach.

Whether you're a collector, a creative, or simply curious, I’m always happy to chat about taxidermy and share what I’ve learned along the way.

Purveyor of oddities

Northern taxidermy was born in 1999, and as a trusted taxidermist for over 25 years, we offer a friendly and reliable service for bird, small mammal and fox mask taxidermy. I have spent many years learning other aspects of the art, as taxidermy requires skills in joinery, molding and casting and model making. I have spent time in the US, and taken courses in the UK, to improve my skills. My other love is antiques and collectables, especially natural history items. I am always looking for that unusual item. Over the years I have built up a collection of natural history, curios and medical items, and some of these will be available here in our store. You can discover our extraordinary collection of oddities and collectibles that have been curated by us and made available for sale. If you are interested in anything you see please reach out to us and we will help wherever we can.
