About me

Since a kid, growing up in Whitley Bay, I have always been fascinated by the art of taxidermy and the cases of stuffed animals and birds in the Hancock Museum in Newcastle. It was only when I started working for the RSPCA, in Cumbria, that I thought I would get myself a book on the subject and finally give taxidermy a go, much to my chiefs dismay. It was a priviladge to work so closely with stunning widlife, but sadly, things do die, and you can't save everything. My first attempt was a buzzard, that I was very proud of even though it resembled the appearance of a large chicken. I perservered and haven't looked back since. I have met so many nice people in the taxidermy world, from all over the globe and a lot of my clients have become good friends. I have been fortunate enough to work on the Harrry Potter franchise, and for various other TV compaines over the years including ITV, Netflix, Channel 4, BBC, and Warner Brothers, to name a few. I am also a member of The Guild of Taxidermists and was on the committee for several years. I have been awared many credits for my work. I also run one to one bird taxidermy courses, and these prove very popular.

Purveyor of oddities

Northern taxidermy was born in 1999, and as a trusted taxidermist for over 25 years, we offer a friendly and reliable service for bird, small mammal and fox mask taxidermy. I have spent many years learning other aspects of the art, as taxidermy requires skills in joinery, molding and casting and model making. I have spent time in the US, and taken courses in the UK, to improve my skills. My other love is antiques and collectables, especially natural history items. I am always looking for that unusual item. Over the years I have built up a collection of natural history, curios and medical items, and some of these will be available here in our store. You can discover our extraordinary collection of oddities and collectibles that have been curated by us and made available for sale. If you are interested in anything you see please reach out to us and we will help wherever we can.
